NIP to take the bite out of insurance bills

The Assembly has joined with the Synods of NSW-ACT, QLD, VIC-TAS and the Northern Synod to establish a national insurance buying group called the National Insurance Program (NIP).

“The implementation of the NIP is the result of a two-year journey,” said Leo Iosifidis, the Assembly’s National Director of Strategic Finance and Administration.

“It follows the development of a compelling business case which has been approved by the various Assembly and Synod Standing Committees.”

“A meticulous procurement process was also undertaken which resulted in the appointment of a new broker and risk partner, effective December 2018, namely Aon Risk Solutions.”

“Finance directors across the Church are pleased that the Program aligns with the spirit for national cooperation across the Uniting Church In Australia. I’m proud of what we’ve all achieved together.”

Initially, the NIP will cover key insurance areas of Property (Industrial Special Risks), Motor Vehicle, Personal Accident and Travel. In subsequent renewals, it is intended that the more challenging policies to consolidate such as Professional Indemnity, Public & Products Liability and Medical Malpractice will be brought under the national program.

The NIP will be administered by a committee with representatives of the National Assembly and each of the participating Synods.

“We look forward to generating efficiencies of scale and consistency of insurance coverage via the NIP and passing these benefits and savings on to all our UCA entities,” said Mr Iosifidis.
