The UCA National Christian Jewish Dialogue Working Group met in Sydney on Tuesday, 21 April for a fruitful day of Biblical reflection and sharing.
In the morning there were presentations about the Wisdom tradition in each faith, followed by lively discussion, and in the afternoon session there was a very moving time of personal sharing about what participants valued in each other's faith traditions. It ended on a celebratory note as John Squires and Elizabeth Raine played some ancient Jewish music. That the dialogue could move to this point was a sign of growing maturity and acceptance in this particular dialogue process. The next meeting will take place in Melbourne on 19 November. One of the topics will be the place and role of women in the Jewish and Christian faith traditions.
