Plentiful food, laughter and the din of animated chatter: a fitting conclusion to the Sydney launch of An Improbable Feast: The surprising dynamic of hospitality at the heart of multifaith chaplaincy, by Geoff Boyce.
Marion Maddox, Director of Macquarie University's Centre for Research on Social Inclusion, and the leading authority on the intersection of religion and politics in Australia, delivered the launch speech. Prof Maddox reflected on several of the narratives presented in An Improbable Feast, and made comment on the current chaplaincy provisions in schools around Australia.
The author, Geoff Boyce, Uniting Church chaplain to Flinders University, Adelaide, and South Australian representative on the Uniting Church National Assembly Working Group on Relations with Other Faiths, responded to Prof Maddox's speech and thanked all those involved in seeing the book through to completion with the line "it takes a community to write a book".
