About the Disaster Relief Fund

The Disaster Relief Fund of the Uniting Church in Australia was established by the Assembly so that the church as a whole could provide assistance in disaster situations within Australia in order to assist in the recovery of individuals and communities.

Fund Guidelines

The Trustees have developed Guidelines that outline the role of the Uniting Church in disaster situations, the basis on which the disaster response of the Uniting Church is made and the principles for the distribution of disaster relief funds.

Committee of Management

The Fund is administered by a Committee of Management appointed by the Assembly Standing Committee. The fund encourages each synod of the Uniting Church in Australia to appoint a Synod Disaster Coordinator, an officer responsible for disaster recovery response.

Bali Bombings Resources

Terrorism moved closer to home on Saturday 12 October, 2002, when a bomb destroyed two crowded clubs in Bali, killing many Australians. The UCA hurried into action and prepared numerous resources for use in the aftermath of the tragedy.
